Whoa: Rendering Revealed for 66-Story DTLA Tower
The Hotel Figueroa may be getting a tall next-door neighbor.

A rendering has emerged for a skyline-altering development slated for a parking lot north of Staples Center and the L.A. Live complex.

The project, submitted to the Los Angeles Planning Department earlier this year, would create a 66-story tower on a nearly two-acre property at 925 S. Figueroa Street, adjacent to the Hotel Figueroa. A full buildout of the development would include 200 condominiums, a 220-key hotel, 94,000 square feet of commercial space and a 617-car garage.

The rendering portrays a rectangular glass tower, soaring high above neighboring buildings such as Oceanwide Plaza and the J.W. Marriott at L.A. Live. The building's mass would rise above a podium structure that is capped by an amenity deck featuring a swimming pool, landscaping and other gathering spaces.

It's a beautiful tower, but the podium seems to be a bit much

Probably shouldn't show any new renders unless you show the tower on the other side of the Hotel Fig as well. The Car Wash Tower is quite a sight as well.

Very nice design. It looks a bit like the New York Times tower, but without spire.

For sure! It certainly seems like that was an inspiration for this building, though this looks to be on a slightly larger scale. I have to say though, I'm glad there's no spire here like there is on the NYT Building. Given the uproar the "roof height police" have raised over Wilshire Grand's spire, I'd hate to see what they'd think if LA got another "supertall" that looked like this!

Yeah I've thought the same. I think it'll be just a hair short, but still tall though. looking at the design and floor count, plus the architectural elements at the top, I'm guessing that this'll end up in the 800-900ft range (FYI uniformed option on my end though)

New Renderings for L.A.'s Future 3rd Tallest Building

Proposed tower on Figueroa Street would soar 975 feet above street level.

by STEVEN SHARP on April 25, 2017, 1:27PM
photos by HUNTER KERHART

A new rendering has emerged for Figueroa Centre, the latest skyline-altering tower proposed in Downtown Los Angeles.

The proposed 975-foot tower, slated for a parking lot at 925 S. Figueroa Street, would rise 66 stories, featuring 200 condominiums, a 220-key hotel, 94,000 square feet of commercial space and a 617-car garage. As reported by NBC Bay Area, the project would include 10 in-house restaurants.

As designed by the architecture firm CallisonRTKL, Figueroa Centre would become the third tallest building in Los Angeles, following the Wilshire Grand and U.S. Bank Towers.

The project is being developed by Regalian, a limited liability company run by Justin Leong.

975 feet!! On the one hand that's awesome, I didn't think it would be that high. On the other hand it's maddeningly close to being a supertall, I mean the design will mean it's 9 feet or less than one floor below supertall status!
I mean come on guys, it's one floor! Can't you stick a fancy restaurant or something up there?? Well I can say that, it's not my money on the project . Regardless, here's hoping that this beauty gets built! (and if they do find an extra 10-25 feet somewhere, even better!)
