Meitetsu has revealed a first impression of the upcoming redevelopment of their Nagoya Station. And sadly it won't be a supertall as was rumored before. It's still going to be a very large building nevertheless, not a supertall, but a super wide building. It's just going to be 180m tall, but with a width of around 500m it's going to be extremely massive. It's going to be 1 big wall, Donald Trump will be jealous.

Construction will take place between 2022 and 2027, the year the new Chuo Maglev between Tokyo and Nagoya will open.

Yikes!

That's the perfect way to ruin your skyline. Just goes to show that buildings can be too massive!

I wouldn't be surprised if planning will require it to be broken up into multiple towers. For something which doesn't start until 2022, it's likely an early massing study.
