Highlight our development !

Is it me or does anyone think there should be a primetime tv documentary for the redevelopment of our towns and cities? Perhaps even a series highlighting each city??

Theres so much change and it seems most people are oblivious..

Skyscrapercity TV- Imagine a whole channel devoted to it. It could replace one of the crappy shopping channels.

This is an example of people designing scrapers whilst smoking pot

Thing is it's kind of nice but I can't think of a single city that it would suit.

In reality, they were designing an advanced technology bong, but deadlines are deadlines...and since they had nothing else to show for their time...

TV Live-cams from the construction sites, 24h, 24/7. With a ticker what happens next and what has happened on the construction site the next/ the last few hours.

There was a lot of general interest after the war, Im not sure if that was more propaganda being fed than interest shown, but on seeing a film on the reconstruction of Plymouth there were high street bookshops full of copies of the plan and other planning books. There was a definite feeling that planning and architecture were the future for everyone. John Betjeman did a prime time show, Christmas I think around 1970 which was very much anti-planning, against the developments that were going up at the time and the destruction of the historic townscape across the country... mirrored by Prince Charles 'a vision of Britian a decade and a half later. It would be good if people had the same enthusiasm now, but then that would just translate into cheap comrehensive large-scale development as councils tried to show that there was 'progress'... and we all know where that leads

I thought we were doing that? Some really interesting threads buried back there. The back page has the huge benefit of having not a single jerseycunt thread.

Whatever happened to JDRS anyway? He used to be really knowledgeable about politics. Then I found out he was only 16.

He must be, what, about 23 now.

I've actually learned how to video edit and bought the equipment since this thread... I could help to make it happen.
