Lucky, Vizag is a Naval Base? If so what zone?
Was this sub based here, in the eastern coast rather than the western coast which was closer to Pakistan shores?? Quote:

Thanks Lucky for the info...
BTW I was wondering whether this sub was based in Vizag, during its operational period and not in Mumbai or Kochi which is more closer to Pakistani shores and quick for an action. Otherwise it would take a long time for this sub to circumnavigate Srilanka and Indian peninsula and reach the north western coast....

One cannot field the entire submarine fleet at the time of war on the west coast ...just because it is closer to Pakistan...some of them are also stationed on the east coast .... to defend against unexpected attacks like the one that happened on December 5th,1971. |
