นายจักรภพ เพ็ญแข โฆษกประจำสำนักนายกรัฐมนตรี แถลงภายหลังการประชุมคณะรัฐมนตรีวันนี้ (25 พ.ค.) ว่า ก่อนเข้าสู่วาระการประชุม พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้พูดถึงโครงการโฮปเวลล์ว่า ได้สั่งการมาตั้งแต่เป็นนายกรัฐมนตรีใหม่ ๆ ว่า ไม่ต้องการเห็นเสาโฮปเวลล์ตั้งเป็นอนุสรณ์สถานประจานความไม่สำเร็จของนโยบาย และได้ให้ผู้เกี่ยวข้องไปคิดออกแบบเพื่อใช้ประโยชน์จากเสาทั้งหลายที่ปักเรียงค้างไว้แล้ว แต่จนถึงขณะนี้ยังไม่มีความคืบหน้าอะไร ถือเป็นตัวอย่างของความล่าช้าในระบบ

อย่างไรก็ตาม นายสุริยะ จึงรุ่งเรืองกิจ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงคมนาคม ได้ชี้แจงว่า ปัญหาใหญ่ คือ งบประมาณ เพราะสำนักงบประมาณได้ตั้งเป็นเงื่อนไขว่า ต้องนำกลับเข้าที่ประชุมคณะรัฐมนตรีทุกครั้ง ซึ่งเป็นการใช้เวลาและยึดระยะเวลาการปฏิบัติการออกไป

จากนั้น นายบวรศักดิ์ อุวรรณโณ เลขาธิการคณะรัฐมนตรี จึงรับนำไปปรึกษาหารือกับสำนักงบประมาณ เพื่อลดขั้นตอนในการปฏิบัติงาน

I hope they paint or do something to the exterioir to make it look nicer.
The dish on the top looks kind of funky. The revolving restaurant up there will be a nice addition.
Perhaps they'll jump on the latest bandwagon and put a rooftop bar above that also?

again, after looking by my own judgement I think the overall shape looks "quite" ok in a way especially that unfinished curve podium hall...

Maneeya owner to spend billions on new projects

Ratchaprasong area to rival Paris, London

The owner of the Maneeya centre at Bangkok's Ratchaprasong intersection is pouring money back into his property investments, putting billions of baht into a new five-star hotel, serviced apartments and a commercial centre on remaining land in the area.

M.R.Tinasakti Saktidej Phanubandh, managing director of Maneeya Realty Co Ltd, said the company would develop a 45-storey, 380-room five-star hotel named the Royal Ratchadamri on Ratchadamri Road between the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel and Peninsula Plaza.

The 6.5-rai plot, leased from the Crown Property Bureau for 30 years, will also hold a 130-room serviced apartment complex and a 12-storey office building with total space of 10,000 square metres.

''The Royal Ratchadamri Hotel will be a new choice for customers in the area. It will offer a unique service and new atmosphere, when compared to the Grand Hyatt Erawan, Four Seasons and the InterContinental,'' said M.R. Tinasakti.


''The three existing hotels have different characters as US, Canadian and UK brands. With the addition of our new hotel, the area would be the first location in the world to have four international hotel chains.''

M.R. Tinasakti said the company was also planning to develop the 35-storey Royal Maneeya Tower on a 10-rai plot of land beside Maneeya Centre.

The tower will include 10,000 square metres of office space, 99 serviced apartments and 76 condominiums. At the same time, it will develop the Maneeya Shopping Centre on 5,000 square metres next to the Royal Maneeya Tower.

All of the projects would be completed by 2007, he said.


''It is the first time since the economic crisis in 1997 that we have undertaken an investment worth several billion baht,'' he said.

The projects would help fulfill his goal of transforming the Ratchaprasong district into a world-class shopping destination along the lines of the Champs d'Elyse{AAC}es in Paris, Oxford Street in London and Orchard Road in Singapore.

The Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association (RSTA), the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the Tourism Authority of Thailand will invest 100 million baht to improve infrastructure including expanding sidewalks, installing destination signs and building more bridges linking buildings in the area over the next year or two, said RSTA president Chai Srivikorn, whose family owns the upmarket Gaysorn centre and the InterContinental Hotel.

I wish they made that area into an open courtyard like in Rockefeller Center in NYC.
The view from there is brilliant. You can see the sexy buildings of Lang Suan and all the excitement of the Ratchaprasong Junction.

I like the area right now thou. but good anyway to have highrise building instead. Btw,what about Burger king and those 2 little shops.Will they have to move?

oh so the parking lot area will be the site location? oh, so they have to tear down those nice shops and Burger King then. In a way, it's not good since it looks already nice now.

I like burgerking my favourite fastfood burger restaurant

but ok a 31 storey nice design skyscraper there would make that area even more superb imagine how dense and tall that area will be, royal ratchadamri 47 storey building, regency one condo about 40-45 storeys also , then wtc office building 55 storey building and the wtc hotel tower over 200 meters wow and yeah the maneeya tower 31 storey as I said above

Yes,I love Burger King too.If they could make a deal.They should rent a ground floor to run their business at the same site. Yeah I'm sure it will be so dense. So the Regency one will get built soon? Where will it be?

they already build about 15 floors but then it got pushed on hold because of the economic crisis...I think it will be resumed soon...
