1)Ortakoy Mosque/Istanbul; best place for a religious building and perfect architecture

2)Blue (Sultanahmet) Mosque/Istanbul

3)Hagia Sophia (Ayasofya)/Istanbul

i think Taj Mahal is not a religious building so its not in my list.

Damn hard, we've got tons of impressive gothic cathedrals. So many they are jamming each others (proof being people vote for Paris while it's a minor one, it's just the most famous).

Anyway, my first vote goes to Notre Dame de Reims.

My second one to the Kaiserdom/ Aachener Dom

My 3rd one to Lincoln Cathedral

1. Angkor Wat

Claimed to be the largest religious structure in the world (after Temple of Karnak in Luxor?) Built in the first half of the 12th century (approx. 1130-50), overtaken by the jungle, and then rediscovered in the 1840s.

Can't decide what to pick for second and third nominations.

Holy freakin crap, I'm changing my vote!! I wasn't too familiar with the beautiful cathedrals of the world so I went with the obvious choices..

My new vote:

1.Cologne Dom
2. Saint Peters Cathedral, Vatican

Everyone seems to be choosing different buildings, most of them I've never even heard of before (apart from St.Peters Cathedral, St. Basils and a couple of others).

Many good choices so far, I would have to pick St.Peter's Basilica. But I would also have to give an honorable mention to the Bahai Temple in Wilmette, Illinois and the more modern one in Delhi, India. I tried to include pics, but I'm new to the forums and have yet to figure out the image posting technique. If anyone could help me that would be greatly appreciated. The FAQ hasn't helped much.
