Through this International Conceptual Design Competition, BCDA is inviting competent Architectural Firms both local and international to take on the challenge of designing an Iconic Building that is distinctive and recognizable, and will represent Bonifacio Global City.

It is envisioned that the building will promote and uphold Filipino Ideals through intricate and unique architectural designs. The Design should incorporate the open and green spaces with modern architecture to further captivate people’s attention.

Submission of Expression of Interest is from February 15, 2017 to March 10, 2017.

From the massing model it seems like it will be rising significantly above Grand Hyatt Manila's spire on its right in the background of this shot.

FYI, this project is different from Department of Energy's "Tower of Power" project which is to be built at DOE/PNOC land.

I will post the video perspective soon! Congrats Manila!

Probably at least 330m? And, PNOC will finance this?

It could be taller.

BTW, PNOC's "iconic" proposal is different and would be just on the right across from Uptown Place. So there's a good possibility of another "supertall" being built right next to it before Duterte's term ends.

Yeah. PNOC's building/s would rise somewhere on left of STI here. So they're gonna have to demolish some of those low-rise structures.

Alright then, the waiting game begins. Although I don't doubt BCDA's seriousness considering how successful its other projects are, I just didn't think it would ernestly consider something vertical.

It's about damned time too right? They just picked the tallest entry, go figure.

I'm more confident about this since it's a national level of gov't involved rather than one of those "mayor" mega proposals that have been coming out. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. It's also a big ask even for the biggest private developers in the country so I'm glad there are these gov't executives that are taking this kind of initiative. I dunno, maybe some company like Ayalaland would be spurred to come up with an undertaking of similar scale in Makati once they see this going up, but who knows? Right now the best skyscrapers the country's billionaires can come up with are all sub-300m.

This project will definitely represents the progressiveness of company, as they have projects (Central Business Districts) which is world class and serves as a role model for (local) urban planning.

I guess that Ayala Land and other property firms are now into wait-and-see mode, as they observe and scrutinize the movements of their competitior/s. For Ayala Land, they hold a lot of properties in Makati CBD on which has a possibility of having a supertall one (cross fingers). In other matters, they may also consider the financial matters as the cost of having this one is way expensive than the usually they built. As time goes by, battle of new structures in the country's top CBD's are going to be intense and exciting. Hope this project will not undergo possible hurdles.

There's a question that sinks in my mind as the design is already up: When will be the groundbreaking of this project? And also the target completion date?

That open parking lot in that corner of Ayala Triangle Gardens is the perfect spot for me IF Ayalaland would ever in their minds consider building one of these. That's a big IF.

With PNOC's plans for "iconic" stuctures in BGC apart from this one by the BCDA, those projects would "elevate" BGC as the premier CBD in the country, and Makati in my opinion would be left behind unless one of the real estate companies is able to come up with something as ambitious and grand as what the government is aiming for.
