It's a good project for NY.It's boxy but not boring.

this baby is coming along nicely! Although boxy I like it. Its not too fat or anything and the colours of the facade are pretty good too!

Great construction pics on the first post in this thread Carlos. The vertical and horizontal setbacks in the rendering make it more than just a glass box - superb!!

BTW, it hasn't been mentioned yet, but The Orion will be a condominium apartment building (even though it looks like an office building).

To see who the the architect, builder and others involved in its construction are : The Orion

I agree. It would more in place in Chicago, Melbourne (Australia) or even Toronto....but New York City it is!!

I somewhat disagree about your statement "If this was going up in Australia it would be a major project." 604ft = 184m and we have quite a few already much taller than that, either under construction as we speak or already approved that will go *up* over the next couple of years in the capital cities around OZ.

A clearer pic of The Orion's construction in its surrounds. Taken by Edward over @ Wired NY:

Nice box!!!!! Looks like a hotel here in Barcelona, but this one is much more taller!!!! Obviously, it's normal for a project in New York!

you might deride this for being merely a box, well it is a residential building, thank god that its simplicity gives it a lot more grace then all of the balconied residentials going up around the world.

Hey, I see my picture! I see this construction every day but I didn't know how far this one should rise. But I see there is a long way to go, and it's a 2 minute walk from the office I am now!
