Will perhaps Sanctuary of the Holy Martyrs of Christ King & StMary of Guadalupe in Tlaquepaque, Mexico ( http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?p=4265493 ) get the tallest church in the world?

Sagrada familia, when finish would be 172 m. So now, the highest one is the church in ULM, in 2050 we should post this trhead again to know wich one will be the talles!

The Medodist Church in Chicago (about three blocks from my apartment) is first and formost a church. There is a large sanctuary on the ground floor, and at the top is a small chapel. The church was already on this sight in the 1920's, and when they decided to rebuild their building, they decided to add office space above the main sanctuary. This was to bring in income to pay for the church as well as it's community outreach. They also built a chapel at the top, which is the highest chapel in the world without question. Yes, the Ulm is the tallest single purpose church in the world, but the building in Chicago remains the tallest steeple, and has the highest chapel.

That Chicago one looks pretty rad.

The tallest building in Maine is a church. I think it's 202 or 220 feet or so.

I think that we are talking about churches, not buildings with churches or chapels. Anyway, I think that some modern mosques minarete's are higher than any church.

Are there churches under construction with pinnacle heights more than the height of Ulm Münster ( http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=218410 )?

Again, it depends if we are talking about tallest or highest.

It isn't complicated to differentiate.

You could argue that a mosque is not a church.

That mosque may be the tallest religious building, but the Münster is the tallest catholic building.

The Ulm Münster is a Protestant Church (Lutheran) I think, not Catholic.

but building a high church today is nothing special, you should remind that it is over 700 years old and was finished in 1890.

I'm going to go with the one in Chicago after reading InTheLoop's post. Not only that, but I want to go against everyone else.

Surely the 'highest' church is Rasta.......

Riverside in NY is the tallest church in North America. The tallest
church in Toronto is St. James Cathedral (Anglican) at 92.9 metres/
305 feet, built in 1853. It is the second tallest in Canada after St Joseph's
Oratory in Montreal. Here is St James:
