L'Aquila means The Eagle.
Like an eagle, the city, 70.000 pop., is between highest tops of Appennine mountains, near the highest in absolute, Mont Gran Sasso, 2912 m.

Si è conclusa la complessa operazione di messa in sicurezza della cupola della Chiesa di Santa Maria del Suffragio, meglio conosciuta come Chiesa delle Anime Sante. Il 5 giugno i Vigili del fuoco hanno inserito nella cupola lesionata dal sisma il "ragno", ossia una struttura metallica a otto bracci estensibili. Dopo averlo calato con una gru, il ragno è stato fissato al livello delle finestre, sia internamente che esternamente. Ecco le immagini dell'operazione di messa in sicurezza[/img]
