Now this is what the Bjarke Ingels tower should look like!

I think with all the godawful designs popping up the last few years Frankfurt is well on track to going from best skyline in Europe to ugliest skyline in Europe in the space of a decade.

Yeah Paris still has the edge on the "look, my mongoloid nephew has been drawing and I turned it into a design"-travesties, but damn is Frankfurt trying hard to catch up fast lately.

Is not true

Grand Tower for example has a fantastic design.
And also Omniturm and FOUR Frankfurt.

Grand Tower is the ray of hope for sure.

Omnitower I think is an esophagal ulcer converted into highrise form. Another recent failure is ONE Frankfurt which is the kind of "we gotta make parts stick out randomly to be hip and cool"-garbage seen a lot in Europe in the past 1-2 decades.

FOUR Frankfurt has a good enough main tower and more of that dated "what was considered avant-garde architecture 20 years ago?"-kind of child's play. Oh and that Henninger Turm reconstruction looked promising in renders but damn did that fall on its face in reality.

Aside from Grand Tower, none of the recent proposals are even remotely on par with the classic Frankfurt towers. Frankfurt towers look best when they look like they're designed to please bankers in suits, not to please hipster coffee house poets.

Unless you seriously deem all Frankfurt projects going on to insult your developed taste, you got a negativist problem.

I find Grand tower to be the most overrated tower in Frankfurt now. Its not ugly, but the visible story slices / discs makes me think of balcony highrises in southern tourist destination, not the classical skyscraper reference I`d personally wish for.

The Omniturm is my favourite tower rising. I think it has a a subtle iconic quality which is likely to grow on spectators. I see how one may think the bulging mid-segment of the otherwise anonymously shaped tower may seem a cheap trick, but as one not-all-dominant element of what turns into Frankfurts densest area, you need something that simple to make a graspable statement. It`s clean cut and cartoonish, but also elegant and relatively novel and unpretentious.
