Another proposal for Tokyo, this one is set to become the tallest in the 200m ~ 299m category when completed in 2025. It's located in Nihonbashi, which is part of the area behind Tokyo station that will see the construction of a lot of new Skyscrapers in the next 10 years. This project will be mixed use, mostly offices but there will be a hotel and also serviced apartments. Construction will start in 2021.

Slightly off-topic, but are there any central government-led efforts to decentralize Japan? I know that there is in South Korea, and that a.) that country is even more centralized around Seoul than Japan is around Tokyo, and b.) that they have defensive reasons for doing so (only ~50km south of the DMZ). I also know that with all of its rail and pedestrianization/bicycle-friendliness, Tokyo is still an easier (if not simpler) place to get around than Seoul. All that said though, is there no concern for economic vitality in other regions, or has everyone given up on that idea? I'm just unfamiliar with the terms of the debate around the issue in Japan.

On topic, is that first render a final one or just a massing? I'm definitely a fan of more reserved architecture, but Greater Tokyo is awash with plain glass boxes. Here's to hoping for something a little more adventurous.
