TORONTO | The Bentway Park | U/C

The Bentway, formerly Project: Under Gardiner, is a planned public trail and corridor space underneath the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto.

This is going to be a huge success, as clever and innovative as Highline in NYC.

Tearing down the Gardiner was my preference but maybe Toronto will end up with something unique and cool with the Bentway. It will be interesting being able to traverse a good section of the downtown outside yet shielded from the rain/snow.

Share the feeling, it could has been so much better to have it tore down.

Shame the city is still giving priority to cars.

I was gonna mention Highline but then I realized that it might sound pretentious.

Not really. I mean it's difficult for Toronto cause the city has basically grown from the post-war boom: The layout is designed such that it is difficult for the city to meet the demands of the 21st century city layout of excluding cars. But things are changing: Toronto's been tearing down its Lower Simcoe Ramp, has pedestrian and bike-prioritized Queen's Quay and is about to do the same to John & Kings Street. Things are changing.

Now that I mentioned the Simcoe Ramp, I'm gonna post the updates for that, here:
