I'm taking a bit of a punt with this thread, as I'm not sure whether it's worth it. Time will tell.
This thread is for the former JMU/Midland Bank Tower, located on Norton Street, off London Road in the city centre. The building was originally constructed in 1965, and was occupied for many years by Midland Bank. After the Midland Bank was taken over by HSBC in the 1990s, its operations were consolidated, and they left the building. It was subsequently taken over and used for several years by Liverpool John Moores University, primarily for their management, finance and HR departments. They later moved these operations into the Exchange Station offices development on Tithebarn Street, and the tower has remained vacant since.
In recent times, the area around the tower has seen an uplift in development, with developments by Anwyl, Niveda, YPG, New Regen, and X1 all with planning, on-site, or recently completed. It stands to reason therefore, that this somewhat forgotten building may see some attention, as its immediate area develops.
During regular visits to check on the status of the adjacent Niveda development, the tower has always remained resolutely idle. However this morning, some clearing out of equipment seems to be underway -

Does that mean something is afoot? Who knows? But with the city's current development hotspot having shifted from the Baltic Triangle to Islington, I wouldn't rule it out.
