to maintain 7 mins between both branches will require 3.5 mins off peak between harbourfront and promenade, something SMRT will be reluctant to do, which is why I suggested the more likely alternative.

then again, considering they don't even want to reduce the off peak frequency of the busier mainlines properly, it is possible we will see 6 mins frequency, with every third train stopping at the less busy branch (likely CCLe)

Imagine the RATIS at Bayfront to display 20 minutes for the next train. You can imagine how many people would be stomping and cursing SMRT with that kind of frequency.

Probably commuters who just missed the train would try the other alternative when the DTL opens. Don't forget, the Promenade bound CCL and DTL platforms are on the same level. Many would be willing to turn the other way and board the DTL, interchange at Promenade, and transfer back to the CCL there. I'm sure that can be done within 20 minutes.

I think the operation will be a lot more complex. I've to travel to Marina Bay Sands rather frequently for work purposes so this is a first-hand experience.

The truth is, Marina Bay Sands is virtually empty on weekdays and weeknights except for tourists who will visit Sands AND the Marina Bay area as part of a day trip, negating much need for rail transport. Do bear in mind that Singapore markets "Marina Bay" very strongly overseas, so the new skyline at Marina Bay - MBFC, Asia Square, ORQ, OUE Bayfront, Fullerton Heritage, Merlion (naturally) and the bay promenade are also "must-sees". What this means is that Raffles Place station has become the unexpected winner in the development - Raffles Place is NO LONGER quiet on the weekends already. Promenade station on the other hand, does not deliver as much people as I had expected, with most of the crowds being locals going to Suntec City and Millenia Walk.

I can only imagine that the CCLe's real purpose and SMRT's focus will be on Marina Bay station, allowing EWL passengers to bypass Raffles Place to get to the new downtown. I guess what I'm trying to say is that DBG-Promenade is very useless, and will lightly see less frequencies.

It will be very interesting to see who gets to operate the DTL because that'd mean SMRT can co-ordinate schedules according to real-time demand rather than second-guessing what might happen to achieve efficiency and profitability.

My take:
The shuttle would most likely take PYL-MRB to use the middle platform @ PYL.
one-north SWTs terminate like trains @ YIS.

You forgot one thing, PYL's middle track is only accessible from the direction of HBF, not MRB. Furthermore, even if the middle track wes accessible from MRB, the middle platform would already be used for the Paya Lebar - one-north SWT. You wouldn't want 2 trains coming from opposite directions colliding into each other, do you?

First photo was taken at HarbourFront platform B which is hardly ever used. Secondly, the train seen behind is actually on the reverse siding, which again, is hardly ever used. So the combination of those means its not a commonly seen sight.

I wouldn't say hardly ever used. I would say rarely sighted.

Nice photos nevertheless.

Yes please. I would like to confirm if it is a Scissors like DBG or not. But I am sure that the trains can crossover to Platform B before parking AND trains can crossover to platform B instead AFTER the parking since I had taken the DNBs before.

Um, which direction do you want, exactly? Facing the overrun tunnels or facing the OTP bound tunnel?
