Amazon HQ2

So as some of you may be aware, Amazon announced today that they are searching for a city to build a second headquarter for their company. They are looking to build enough facilities to house nearly 50,000 employees, investing more than $5 Billion.

Quote:
In choosing the location for HQ2, Amazon has a preference for:
- Metropolitan areas with more than one million people
- A stable and business-friendly environment
- Urban or suburban locations with the potential to attract and retain strong technical talent
- Communities that think big and creatively when considering locations and real estate options

HQ2 could be, but does not have to be:
- An urban or downtown campus
- A similar layout to Amazon’s Seattle campus
- A development-prepped site. We want to encourage states/provinces and communities to think creatively for viable real estate options, while not negatively affecting our preferred timeline
This project is HUGE and will have massive implications for the city that eventually is chosen. I'm pretty sure we all have some hope that they will choose our own city but realistically, which cities stand a fighting chance and which ones dont?

I'd say cities such as Boston, Dallas, Minneapolis, Atlanta, Chicago, Phoenix, and places like D.C. and even Austin would be "best" options.

Other options - but not as high on the list - would be Denver, Salt Lake City, Columbus, Cincy, Philly, Pittsburgh, Toronto, and maybe Charlotte to name a few.

Just me thinking aloud.

Don't forget about the city that will win the bid, Baltimore.

Can't think of a city that needs more help.
