Woman dies in McDonald's stabbing

A 57-year-old woman has died from stab wounds after an incident at a McDonald's restaurant, Sussex Police have said.
A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after the incident at the restaurant, in Chichester, West Sussex, at about 1300 BST on Saturday.

Police said the two people both worked at the McDonald's in Terminus Road.

Social services are offering counselling to customers who were in the restaurant at the time.

West Sussex County Council said people who wanted counselling should call 01903 694422 before 0900 BST on Monday or 01243 752999 after that time.

The restaurant remained closed on Sunday, taped-off with police officers standing outside.

Sussex Police said a post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Sunday and that they could not reveal the identity of the woman until her next of kin had been notified.

A McDonald's spokesman said: "We are absolutely shocked and horrified by this tragic incident.

"Our thoughts and sincerest sympathies are with the family of a much loved, valued and respected member of our team.

"The safety and well being of our staff is of utmost concern and we will be offering counselling to all employees affected by yesterdays tragic events.

"We will of course be working very closely with Sussex Police to assist them with their investigation."

Sad indeed

The last time I went to Mcdonalds there was a fight, and another time I was with this girl, and a guy looking for prostitues started asking her if she would sleep with him that night. Not the safest place to be.

I did not realize the Brit McDonals were such havens of evil. I avoid MickeyD's like the plague, but not because I am scared for my safety!

i guess we have two reasons to fear macdonalds now - bad food and psychopaths.

Though that says more about the area you were in than McDonalds resturaunts as a whole.

Never been partial to McDonalds anyway. This kind of thing doesn't happen at Eddie Rockets, I'm telling you!

McDonalds, in my experience has always been a haven for trouble causing scrotes who don't look old enough to hang around their local pub.
