#UNDER C: "Kuwait International Airport - Support Terminal", 3F, ?M, Airport

Surprised we didn't have a dedicated thread for the new support terminal at KWI, so here it is.

Quick stats:
- This terminal is being built on a 55000 square meter plot adjacent to the Cargo Building and is NOT related to the Foster+Partners-designed Terminal 2 project to the south of the airport site
- The project is worth 52.89 million KD and includes the development of 2450 much-needed parking spaces
- The Support Terminal will be used exclusively by Kuwait Airways to alleviate pressure from the existing terminal until T2 is completed sometime between 2021 and 2XXX
- There will be 9 gates and the structure will handle up to five million passengers per year
- There have been delays [shocking] but construction is well underway; the building is currently planned to be operational by Q1 2018

In addition to the below renderings, I have included photo updates I took as I was boarding a flight next to the construction site on October 5th.

I visited the terminal building a few days ago while I was on my way to shopping for a quadcopter in Al-Dajeej.

It's a really nice terminal, to be honest. It's about time Kuwait had a proper airport terminal.

They should build an airport hotel on the opposite side of the terminal building, near the car park.

It would be amazing if they strip down the current airport after they finish the new terminal, to its original design by Kenzo Tange, and then convert it to an airport hotel, like the TWA flight center at JFK NY.
It was once called "the most beautiful airport in the world"

Wow, that is an INCREDIBLE idea. I'd love it even if they kept the building in use as an older terminal but stripped it back down to its original design, which looked way ahead of its time with its cool minimalism and clean lines. It's a shame what the 'renovations' did to it [to the point that Tange himself disavowed the building as one of his works], although I do appreciate the new duty free instead of the old plastic yellow mess it once was.

Here's hoping things get interesting in a good way.
