Don't expect much, those idiots are on a role, trust me, just ignore them and their continuous bs, it won't lead to anywhere, and their slogan seems to be "We care for ourselves only, as for others, SCREW YOU". Yalla, at times I wonder why the hell we have this council but again it's a good political move. Come 2006, I'll be more than happy to see them walk with their heads down.

MPs simply won't give up fretting over petty issues

By Amira Al Hussaini

I had promised myself not to lash out at MPs again too soon ... but they are not making it easy!

For our honourable MPs are now working towards getting yet another concert banned.

After fulfilling all their promises to the nation, MPs from Al Asala and Al Menbar blocs are putting up yet another fight to halt Star Academy's concert, scheduled to be held in Bahrain later this month.

Just like the infamous Nancy Ajram concert (staged on October 23, 2003), which was given the go ahead by the Information Ministry, organisers of the May 19 show say they also have official approval.

However, our MPs, who have been elected to uphold laws, seem bent on breaking them every step of the way when it comes to any type of entertainment - because they have appointed themselves the nation's vice squad.

After all, Bahrainis cannot behave themselves and need MPs to tell them right from wrong.

Whether we agree with the concert, or its content, or whether we believe it poses a moral threat, the fact is that its organisers have got official approval to go ahead.

This means that in a country with dwindling resources, someone has sat back and thought of a money-making scheme, to bring in revenue in a legitimate way, in line with all the regulations.

But this is not to be.

I am worried that this concert will take the same path as the Nancy Ajram concert and again make my country the butt of jokes in the region and further afield.

In my opinion, calls to ban the Ajram concert brought more harm to Bahrain's reputation and its security than allowing it to simply go ahead.

People are still talking about the concert and the troubles a group of anarchists, who thought they could stop it, caused.

Had the concert gone ahead without trouble, no one would be mentioning it again.

I really don't see what a concert can do to create moral decay in a country where, according to official statistics, almost 26 per cent of people aged 15 to 30 years, have experimented with illegal drugs!

Instead of wasting public resources discussing petty issues, it is high time our honourable MPs came up with better ways to attack this cancer which is slowly eating up our flesh and destroying our only asset - our youth.

Screw them, with all my heart, that's all I can say, we just need to crown them as "Official Idiots and Backstabbers" in a ceremony attended by the whole country.

And the government was stupid enough to accept it? That's a scam if it's passed.

See those Islamists, I don't want to go and rant about them, but tara they're the worst ppl, they pretend to be angels, but all they think about is their personal benefit and their pockets. They say we're in it for God, they're in it for the money. Walla screw them and the day they went into this useless council. 7aram hal floos ten9eref 3la hal ashkal.

For 80 members, and guess what, they didnt mention any monthy deduction from their existing salaries..

I'm not sure if Gov't accepted it but still, there is a due process before final approval, if i'm not wrong

They shouldn't be able to do that...a person gets his pension according to the number of yrs he worked and served, and currently i believe its calculated as double the amount of years served in a governmental institution (e.g. 20yrs=40%)...And this percentage is of the person's salary on retirement...His last salary at the time he retired...So this law is just soo incongruent with the rest of the pension/retirements laws, not to mention plain wrong, greedy, a waster, and totally undeserved....

And btw didn't they propose and argue about some insurance thing, in relation to themselves not the public, demanding some sort of medical insurance i think...I remember reading about that in the GDN letters section...Some disgruntled Bahraini, and rightly so

I was talkin to my cousin (he's in Bahrain) and he said this salary proposal was scrapped as ppl were angry and rose against them and I think I've heard about it. It is clear that those idiots don't even understand the guidelines and rules of their own jobs. Forget them, those Islamists are only after the money, nothin else. They don't care bout Bahrain nor the ppl, just their pockets and themselves.

the problem is theyre unqualified simple as. i personally know two MP's both used to teach at public schools (islamic studies and art) one of them is not even originally bahraini ! now how is that qualified !? he doesnt know jack shit about politics let alone current affairs. take MP fairouz for example, this retard still has dual nationality (iran being the second) now tell me how relevant is that !? an ex iranian as a bahraini MP. i say get rid of all these mullas who have theyre own interests at heart along with the useless al dharani who i think is there just to spy on everyone the weasel, appoint half of the allocated MPs, the other half could be voted in, this way you have a balance between the ignorant and well-educated. seriously im thinking of running for office myself, oppose all these bastards that wanna impose theyre thoughts and beliefs on us. btw im bahraini through and through (probably 9th generation)

BTW how many generations does one need to be Bahraini through and through. I guess going more than 4 will eliminate 70% of Bahrainis
