This is the underpass, part of Jalukbari interchange. Vehicles from Guwahati airport to city will have to go underneath this underpass.

Last but not the least...

Just hope that they build a proper interchange on the North bank as well. Hajo-Guwahati road meets NH31 and traffic gets very messy here all throughout the day. Enough land is also available for the purpose.

So looks like they are building a new bridge on the side of the existing one which is a double decker bridge , so will this new bridge compliment the other one ?

Yep, its a new bridge next to the double decker bridge (40 meters apart). However, neither of them going to complement each other in terms of looks or functionality. For the fact:
1) New bridge is a balanced cantilever one, with 3 motorable lanes. No provision for railway lines.
2) Old bridge is steel cantilever double decker bridge with 2 motorable lanes on top and single railway track beneath.

Different looking bridge next to each other....and frankly both the bridge will serve their purpose but aestheticwise, none of them have the wow! factor like the bridges of Allahabad, Kolkata or Mumbai.

Longest BRO-built bridge inaugurated in Arunachal Pradesh

New Delhi, Apr 10 (PTI) Minister of State for Defence M M Pallam Raju today inaugurated the longest bridge constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh. The Digaru bridge, the longest constructed by the BRO ever, was undertaken by Project Udayak and has been erected in extremely tough terrain, fulfilling the long pending demand of the local population as well as the Army, Defence Ministry said in a release here. The Minister complemented BRO for the excellent work being executed comparable to the international standards despite severe constraints, it said.

This is supposed to be 720 meters long.

Work has restarted on Kota's Chambal cable stayed bridge with a revised deadline. Press Release from RMD Kwikform:

Juy 13: RMD Kwikform Win Kota Bridge Contract

RMD Kwikform India is to design and supply shoring and formwork solutions for the first axial suspension cable stayed bridge ever built in India.

The Kota Bridge’s innovative design sees a single 350-metre span cross the entire width of the Chambal River, with three approach spans on either side. It is these approach spans that will feature RMD Kwikform shoring solutions.

RMD Kwikform’s ultra heavy duty Megashor shoring has been chosen as the support system for the 32 metre high, 32m wide and 60m long main deck of the approach spans. Having to deal with local wind conditions, Megashor also has the ability to cope with the dead weight of the deck itself.



A combination of Superslim, GTX Beams and specially designed crank soldiers are to be employed on the cantilever wing form, while the pier cap will be constructed using a Rapidshor system.

The bridge will be finished by the end of 2014, with RMD Kwikform completing its involvement in August 2013, just 13 months after starting work on the project.

Arul Raja, Vice President at RMD Kwikform India, said:

“In supplying formwork and shoring solution to the Kota Bridge we have worked in partnership with construction firms Gammon India and Hyundai Engineering to deliver a bespoke solution in line with the project’s environmental considerations. “RMD Kwikform’s involvement in a project of this significance further demonstrates its on going commitment to supporting large scale projects in India.”

This bridge is a part of the Kota Bypass project on NH76 in Rajasthan. For renders and project info, check out Hindustani's post.

We want this type of U turn near Marathahalli Bridge on ORR. We can use Service road available on both the sides
