If the spire counts as the official height than i hate it. Average skyscraper height with 78 m spire on top. 288 m without spire, 366 m with spire. Its a big difference.

Otherwise i think its great, another new modern skyscraper to add to this great skyline. Nice design.

Looks like they've still got a big rock to blast or jack hammer out of there.

Incredible, the size of this excavation is one of largest i've ever seen, (for a single office tower anyway) and I have seen all, (except two) of the excavations for the 11, 700'+ office towers, in downtown Los Angeles, the largest/deepest here was for the 52 story, Gas Company tower, (most of the office towers in downtown LA are on a hillside, as most of the highrise development is on what was once known as Bunker Hill, so (in the case of the Gas Co. tower) it's excavation on the northern corner was in excess of 70' where the southern was no more than 35'.

This one is on reletivaly level ground, and has lots of rock in it, (are they blasting the rock ??). Once the digging is complete though, the interesting part will begin, that being the erection of the structural steel, and by the time it's up to street level, the type of structural system this tower has can be identyfied.

Thanks for all the photos, and info, Of the many towers going up worldwide at this time, this one is in the top five of the one's to watch.

i wouldnt have thought that it would be a good idea to blast the rock because it could disturb naibouring foundations. unless they are very small blasts?

It will never have enough. Even when NYC runs out of land, the old buildings will come down and bigger and better ones will take their place.
