Melbourne as the city but when it comes to skyline Sydney can hardly be beaten by any city (due to a waterfront probably but still).

In my opinion:

Best Skyscraper Skyline = Melbourne

Best Overall Skyline = Sydney
(it's a more world-recognized skyline due to its famous setting and landmarks - the beautiful Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Centrepoint Tower).

So I'm going with Sydney overall. When I think of "Australia", probably the first image that comes to my mind is Sydney.

I knew when I saw this that it would be down to Melbourne and Syudney. Here's what I think. Melbourne has a nicer cluster of skyscrapers, however, Sydney's skyline is much bigger and as wjfox said, is more recognizable. Therefore, I voted for Sydney

Sydney, perhaps much because of the landmarks and familiarity of it, but the skyline itself is not bad at all.

I voted Sydney, but I don't mean Sydney is the best, because each one has different opinions, so I cannot say which is good which is bad; I only want to say, Sydney's skyline is my favourite personally, well, actually alongside with Melbourne, both my favourite

streets in Sydney city are not like streets Melbourne's city; streets in Melbourne city are wider and straight. But there are many lanes and narrow streets in Sydney city.

Melbourne. I can see why alot of people would prefer Sydney but for me it's no contest.
