I think these pictures are from the early 90's - mid 90's. Alot of those locations been renewed or knocked down to create new apartments. The pictures look like they were taken around areas of Williamsburgh - Bushwick - Bedford Stuyvesant - Ocean Hill. Great post btw. Pictures from disassociate.com if I remember, they also had a huge gallery.
I will help out a bit, If you don't mind. ![]() * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * A track to spice things up. Group Home - Supa Star Last edited by StormShadow; May 3rd, 2005 at 01:45 AM. |

I enjoyed the pictures. Its amazing that almost every single building you photographed has the potential to look elegant, if not striking. (I realize that may have been a criterion for photographing these.) I have spent very little time in the outer boroughs, but I'm very curious about them. I have only spent time in Astoria, which I think is an amazing neighborhood. (Astoria Blvd has streetlife at 11PM Sunday night--this is incredible to a non-New Yorker.)
I wanted to ask -- what percentage of land mass of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx would you consider unsafe ghetto neighborhoods? In Chicago, as many of you are aware, large swaths of the South and West Side are rather menacing. There is so much vacant land there due to fast track demolition of abandoned homes that are often architecturally interesting. What is the state of the outer boroughs in this regard? Thanks. |

Too bad these pictures are outdated by several years and many of these blocks have already been restored...
