Agreed. The Freedom Tower takes the Cheesy award of 2005. It's kind of like the people who think their patriotic because they have 4 American flags flying from the 4 windows of their car.

Al Burj: From what I know of Arabic burj=tower and al=the, thus they named it "The Tower" how lame is that?

Taipei 101: Why didn't they just leave it as Taipei Financial Center?

And I'll throw in all those 900ft (300m)+ towers in chicago that have no name, just addresses. Such as 233 S. Wacker, 900 N michigan

Freedom Tower......cheezy but you'll get use to it. At least it means something.

Sears Tower...Name of a dept. store that used to own it.

CN Tower....Name of a railroad company that used to own it.

Taipei 101....Cheeze Whiz!

2IFC......Very original for such a marvelous building. Only a rocket scientist thought of that one.

Union Square 7.....Just hoping it actually gets a real name.

The list can go on and on. Is all in a name and we all will get used to it.

Come to think of it "Freedom Tower" doesn't sound so bad.

Freedom is very cheesy and ironic, especially when the only group of people who tends to deprive others of their freedom and sovereignty are the Americans themselves.

al Burj is a bit stupid when you translate it lol. "Burj' is fine for people who dont speak the language. But really...

I think the grammar is different in Arabic, so it would probably mean Dubai Tower, not Tower the Dubai, or the Arab Tower.

I don't love the name Freedom Tower (or the design, for that matter).
