Freedom Tower...Just a little too politically motivated for my liking, (otherwise it is just fairly bland)

I think "Taipei 101" is more catchy than many

"The Freedom Tower" is pathetic, so are "The Centre", "The Tower", "The Skyscraper", etc.

I hope they name "Dubai Towers Istanbul" as something else

Why dont you use your brain and delete the pic from your post?

They recently just announced a new one in Vegas called "THEplace". It's a condo tower and will look just like THEhotel and be next door.

But "Al Burj" is nothing than "The Tower". There are at least some 100,000 "The Tower"s in the whole world!!! As pathetic is "skyresidence"... No building will ever reach the skies, so it is veeeery pathetic!

heh, this reminds me of a joke with some other forumers a year or two ago when a lot of residential towers with trendy names went up in Atlanta (Metropolis, Spire, etc...) they were all in "Midtown," so i decided that a tower named Midtown should be built in Midtown so people can say "i live in MIDTOWN."

As many of you know, sporting/special events arenas in the US "sell" the naming rights for their buildings to the highest bidding corporate sponsor.

A few years ago here in Providence, Rhode Island, our downtown sporting venue was renamed "The Dunkin' Donuts Center". Locally, it's affectionately referred to as "The Dunk".

To add insult to injury, the Dunkin' Donut logo is bright orange and hot pink - makes you proud . . .

Here's a link if you'd like to see what's coming up at The Dunk:

I agree that Freedom Tower is a politically-inspired republican name. Basically an advertisement for the comical idea that "our freedom" is why the US was attacked. (If so, better watch out Netherlands!) I'll never use that name.

The Georgia World Congress Center scores high on any list of names that are overly grandiose for what their buildings really are.

As for the cheeziness of "Freedom Tower," just watch. Prior to its opening, it'll get naming rights from a major tennant, so from then on it'll be known as the name of the company that paid for the naming rights, and not "Freedom Tower"

Gotta love capitalism LOL

I also think that "X-Ceed 4000" or whatever it's called is rather stupid too.

Besides the Freedom Tower, I find a number of the building to which the company owns it and self titles them or uses their name in them to be repetitive.

This is about any building, not only skyscrapers, isn't it? At least the original poster didin't say so.

So for me a hot candidate is the football stadium of Dortmund, Germany:

Signal Iduna Park (formerly named Westfalenstadion)

First because it is named after an insurance company which sound to me like toothpaste (Signal is also a toothpaste brand in Germany).
Second because calling a stadium "Park" does not make any sense in German and has also no tradition here. It's just copied from the UK.

The easyCredit-Stadion of NŘrnberg isn't really much better.
