I agree it doesn't look like a "Miami" building, but I think thats a good thing. A little variety never hurt anyone.

good height, but really bad design, they should do something better than that.

Has anyone thought of huricanes in florida terrible idea. The building is to high. I am not against tall buildings in florida but safety has to be a factor. This building is a disater to happen.

Whats with the different forms. It seems so random. I think some more thought could have gone into this one. That design just doesn't say " Tallest residential towers" to me. It just looks like someone was experimenting with the extrude function in form z. C'mon guys you can do better than that

Everyone here has a preset notion of what a building should look like in Miami, nice wonderful colours. When I see this building, the only thing I can think of is that a tall black building represents big business. Maybe this change of pace(and colour) will look good for Miami.

Something tells me a developer who will invest hundreds of millions of dollars into a building located on the water on the coast of Florida has probably considered Hurricanes, but thats just me.

Also, about the "non-Miaminess" of the design, another tower that will have a very similar (almost identicle) design (Brickell Citi Centre) will be three towers topping out at 808feet only about 10 blocks away. Also the 835 foot tall 1101 Brickell (by the same architect) will have a similar oval shape but be more of a dark blue. So 3 of Miami's 4 tallest will have this "non-Miami" design.

So we're going to have to change the name of the city to 'non-Miami'. Sure, there will be lots of paperwork involved.

I actually prefer the name 'Better-than-Panama-City'.

They are going to have to get a waiver from the FAA (aviation authority) that determines that the building causes no hazard to Miami International Airport about 5 miles away. They have been known to chop buildings down in the past.

Why make it look like other residential buildings, come on in miami you have over 300 residential buildings fighting for the same customers,so they should make it look like all the other buildings?that wouldn't make sense
  • you want the building to standout-the height does that,
you want a striking design that people will remember-the dark colors do,
you want a name that is really recognizable-empire world(closely related to the most known skyscraper in the world).

no point in making the usual miami design,no point in making the usual 500ft you see all the time here.customers want to say i live in the tallest tower,i have the best view,or in the most recognizable tower.on the most known street in miami.
EMPIRE WORLD DOES THAT
