The houses around Anfield are most probably all private landlords i doubt there are many families in bought houses.

Good point, but the quotes I've read from the mayor and other councillors indicate that a number of the residents own their own homes, which makes sense given how some Anfield residents have openly talked about previous offers that were made to them. As that Edgbaston situation shows, it only takes one to put up a fight, and is obviously their right to do so.

The whole area is derelict can't see a case for anyone wanting to stay there.
Plus there is very little chance of a public inquiry as this development is going to transfrom the area.

Anyone know if any architects have even been employed to design an expended Anfield?

No confirmation yet, but my gut feeling tells me it'll be the club's favourite architects, which is AFL.

Very uninspiring. Hasn't Hnery previously used Herzog & de Meuron?

Not to my knowledge. HKS were involved with the failed Hicks and Gillett stadium, whilst AFL have previously put together various designs for a new Anfield. Even the latest planning application was put together by AFL for the club:

Yeah, welcome to Anfield:

In fairness, at least they show the numerous restricted views on their main site, whilst most of the restricted views should be consigned to history once the Main Stand and Anfield Road end are redeveloped.

Those views are an embarrassment.

Hopefully most / all the obstructed views will be being addressed by the redevelopment/architects appointed.

Has anyone heard any updates? The last I heard was someone saying that the Walton Breck Rd was going to be diverted. This was only hearsay though and I've no links to back it up.

For those that don't know, Walton Breck rd is the road behind the Kop End therefore if it is true, sounds like an expansion of the Kop may be on the cards.

Any further news?

Believe it or not, when it's seated that is actually a tad smaller than the Kop is now!!!

Quality stand, ground and fans though!

LOL, I love the fact this photo gets posted everytime an English club even hints it's going to expand its ground or build a new one.

And in quick response, as my workload prevents me going into too much detail right now, after talks with the designers and planners in the Anfield regeneration projects at present as well as chief members of the liverpool board - the expansion of Anfield as shown on our plan is what is proposed for the 60000 seater. It extends two streets north and only across to the other side of the road on Anfield Road.
That's not our plan - that is what is proposed in reality.

Kop is not bigger, I would say Do is at least 10 meters higher.

Dortmund crowd is not quality, just quantity - could be beaten by any balkan/greece/turkey support third the size at any given day.

Capacity wise, if I'm right, the Sudtribune holds 12000 when seated. The Kop holds 12,500. It may look bigger and may be 10 metres taller, but in terms of overall size, it seems it's smaller.

Atmosphere wise, Anfield is without doubt better on a BIG European night! Google LFC v Chelsea 2005 semi final!

how is it without doubt ? there is a difference between opinion and fact, and why should the fact that a game is in Europe or be against a so called "big" team have any effect on the level of support given. surely people should give the same level of support if your playing barnet at home in the 3rd round of the League Cup or if your playing Real Madrid in the champions league semi final ?

im sure you will find Dortmund fans saying there ground is better, and will be able to provide youtube links to how loud there ground can get, the fact your example is from 8 years ago also speaks volumes

Oh dear! Just remind me, what was the atmosphere like when WHL last hosted a Champions league semi final?
