Any plans for the red line to the airport? I see it listed as "planned" on some maps. I will be there in May...it will be nice to be able to avoid having to take a bus if possible.

O, Sept/Oct 2011 is good period! What about Amdora Este – Reboleira?
Any developments for other projects – I mean extension of the Yellow line from Rato, extension of the Red line from Sao Sebastiao. Also I am interested if there are some real plan for extension of metro Sul de Teju.
Sorry for asking, but I find very little information in English about these projects.

1) That is planned as the next expansion of the Lisbon Subway, but all plans are stall, waiting for better days!!!

2) There is another map of several expansions (on wikipedia) that was presented last year [for election reasons], but it was already post aside!!

There are planned 3 phases, only the first one is done!!

The 2nd and 3rd phases [continuation of the Blue and Yellow Line] are waiting for viability of the Metro Sul do Tejo existing network!!

The main reason for the lack of the viability is that the machines that validate the ticket are inside the vehicle, an only a few percentage of the passengers validate the ticket when someone comes to see!!!

Thank you Pai Nosso. Very useful information.
It is a pity that no new fast growing projects will be developed in next few years. I think that Lisbon metro system is very efficient and with small extensions will be almost perfect. I like it.
May I ask about the situation with new airport of Lisbon – is it a real one or just some imaginative project. I suppose the new airport has to change the Lisbon metro and rail system. What do you think?

It`s a real project, and it will be made (when money re-appears again), perhaps not in 2017 as initial projected, but a few years later!!

I`m not from Lisbon area, and i can`t give you a real idea, but i think that the general idea is that the metro system will remain the same, and concerning the railway system it will be made a railway line (through a shuttle » alongside the future High-Speed Line Lisbon-Madrid) connecting Lisbon (Gare do Oriente Station) » New Bridge » New Airport!!
