Technically speaking, Toronto is building more than New York by a significant margin. It's only in regards to 300m+ buildings where New York trumps Toronto's boom. At the very least you should have these cities at the same level (boom or massive boom).

Toronto 69
New York 43

Toronto 126
New York 70

^ Yes, when we talk about 100m+ buildings, Toronto is certainly performing very well - even better than New York.

In the 200m+ category both cities are about the same as many stalled projects in New York keep coming back on track and new ones are popping up all over the place.

As for supertalls, New York is just going crazy (4 completed, 4 u/c, 6 in prep, 15+ proposed). I heard of that Casino Twin Tower proposal in Toronto, hopefully it will be realized.

The Toronto boom is nowhere near as impressive as the NY boom. Cheap condo towers, no matter the quantity, will never trump the gigantic office and ultralux condos going up in NY.

You're entitled to your opinion, but your perceptions are way off if you think cheap condos are all that's being built in Toronto.

Cheap compared to NYC. And they look cheap too. All that dull, wavy glass on all of them. And not to mention their form. An ocean of boxes if I ever saw one.

Like I said already, your perceptions are way off. That said, you seem set in your viewpoint regardless of the reality so I'll move on.

The Oxford casino proposal is on the shelf at the moment as they re-work it without the casino component. Super talls seem to be the one piece of the puzzle missing in Toronto, but there's tons of other quality projects under construction or in the pipeline. Mirvish-Gehry's 3 tower theatre district proposal and the Oxford twin super talls remain my favourite proposals besides the Union Station refurbishment/enlargement.

We Torontonians will just have to wait for the super talls to start happening. We were so close all the way back in 1975 with FCP (only 2m short). Who knew we'd have to wait this long!

Toronto doesnt have the demand that New York has that would justify a supertall. Let alone twin supertalls lol.

You realize that 7 million square feet of office space is going up in Toronto right? Judging by your comments so far I'm assuming you didn't know that or much else about the market in this city.

Is that supposed to mean anything? Theres so much undeveloped or underdeveloped land in Toronto that land prices cant possibly justify a supertall. Especially an office supertall. To think otherwise is delusional.

Toronto built a 298m office tower in 1975. You're right, Toronto couldn't possibly have demand for one 2m taller today!

Try doing some research rather than spouting off about something you apparently know nothing about.

^ Sorry, but no. Read the thread title please.

EDIT: is that Bangkok? If so, it's a very unflattering angle.
