Hong Kong's still top in the world for me, but the likes of Shenzhen are definitely creeping up there.

China could have 5-6 of the top 10 in the near future. We might have to start a 'Best Non-Chinese Skyline' thread so we don't feel left out.

A new Business District in Nanshan district is being built in Shenzhen, far away from Futian CBD

The last picture of Singapore is probably the best I have ever seen of this city's skyline. What gives it the wow factor is the massive residential buildings in front of the glassy office towers of the CBD.

Yes unfortunately construction around cbd are not so much as seen of lacking in cranes showing singapore has reached its peak.

And those residential block are public housing thus design not that good. If the financial CBD located near to Orchard district which house luxurious condos, the skyline probably would be in the top 3

Orchard skyline

However managed to have a pic combining some part of both skylines

In my view Hong Kong is the run-away best skyline in the world....even New York can't compare.

And by the way, some of my favorite skyscrapers in the world are in Dubai, but I find Dubai's skyline uninspiring. It looks more like a massive skyscraper museum, than a real city.

Up until the 20th century, the best (historical) skylines were in Europe. In the 20th century North American cities had the most impressive skylines. I guess now it's time for Asia to shine...

New York is the Skyscraper Capital , but Hong Kong is the Skyscraper's Emperor , it's just a reality , although Hk isn't constructing anything interesting since the ICC ...

It's a real shame that skyscraper construction in Hong Kong has effectively ground to a halt. While it definitely holds the title of best skyline for the time being, it probably won't be long before other cities catch up or overtake it.

Yah i think hk constructions are now widening to rural areas rather than developing into the current cbd

They ran out of space... Many hong kong buildings are now being built in Shenzhen which is the neighbouring city, particularly in the Qianhai special economic zone of shenzhen. This is a big stage in the Hong Kong-Shenzhen integration plan.
In time all of the pearl river delta cities will overlap into each other, creating the biggest metropolis on earth. I still think Shenzhen will have the best skyline out of all of the pearl river delta city though.

Overtaking HK in terms of density is just impossible , and density is an essential factor when it comes to skyline ranking , maybe in height many cities are overtaking HK , but in number of highrises it won't be easy as Hk has a comfortable lead .
Don't forget the natural settings of Hk wich is non existant in the majority of the emerging cities ( except Shenzhen and Chongqng) .
