Despite it's size I'm not usually keen on the Hong Kong skyline. That photo above is dynamite though.

Toronto has more than 30 highrises U/C as we speak, and more to go in the near future. It will look "messy" for years to come.

Based on what factors? Not trying to be an ass, just want to understand why you think Tianjin scores better than Toronto.

Toronto's skyline is considerably larger than the one in Tianjin. Toronto has 285 buildings over 90m, Tianjin has 118. Then there's the question of architectural diversity, quality, and layering.

There are 66 buildings 100m+ U/C and lots of other work being done like the UP rail link, Eglinton LRT, Union Station revitalization, Pan American Games village, and tons of stuff below 100m. There's far more construction that ~30 high rises.

I used as a reference the CTBUH Database, but I guess hasn't been updated correctly

They're usually a good source for cities outside China, but it hasn't been all that reliable lately. SSPs is better.

Yes toronto in few years time definitely will be great

I think Tianjin has slightly better based on my view as current toronto looks messy. Just like when i visited shanghai in 2008, its messy and their skyline nowhere in top 10 in the world

He doesn't like construction cranes.

After 8 years of relentless growth most people here are getting construction fatigue, but it's the price you pay for success. I wouldn't change it for the world. It's fascinating living in a city transforming itself into something else at warp speed. It boggles my mind that the 100m+ count looks set to double over the next 6 years. At the rate we're going, this below could very well double in size by 2020.

It shows no signs of letting up either. There are 135 100m+ proposals on the books right now + the 'Big Move' transit plan expected to cost $50 billion. We've got Chicago to our west and New York to our southeast. If we want to get in the mix it's Go Big Or Go Home!

That said, I've been checking up on Melbourne a lot lately. You have some fabulous buildings going up/proposed. Melbourne is on my short list of cities I'm watching over the next few years. Melbourne's a fabulous looking city.
