Think in singapore above 150m has about 13 under construction but 100m above list imcomplete and under CTBUH has 31. But there are few tall residences not in the list which i believe has at least a dozen not in the list above 100 metres.

Do not mention highrises as highrises constructions are all over the city as government on the decentralisation mode.

That's pretty good. Is most of this construction happening in the CBD or is it spread out around the metropolitan area?

Those above hundred meters to be build in central area like marina bay, tanjong pagar and orchard district while those highrises are spread out across the island

That said, I've been checking up on Melbourne a lot lately. You have some fabulous buildings going up/proposed. Melbourne is on my short list of cities I'm watching over the next few years. Melbourne's a fabulous looking city.
Yeah, we've got a fair bit going on at the moment. I don't have an exact list, but there's quite a few highrise U/C or approved, along with 3 skyscrapers U/C and quite a few proposed, including our first supertall, which is beginning construction next year. Our skyline will look very different in the next few years.

I've been wanting to go to Toronto for a while now. Looks like a great city. I've heard it compared to Melbourne quite a few times as well.

Have you ever been here?

I haven't been to Australia, but trying to go in February to visit my Dad. He's been living in Brisbane for the last 20 years. A lot of people seem to say that Melbourne and Toronto have an uncanny resemblance and I get that same feeling when I look at photos. I've many times looked at a Melbourne street pic and thought it looked almost identical to a certain intersection here. The giveaways are the different street cars/trams and your Victorian row houses are slightly different than ours.

If I had to pair them up I'd say that Melbourne and Toronto are twins as are Sydney and Vancouver (over priced beauty pageant contestants!) Brooklyn in New York is the closet to Montreal. An American I chatted with called it a 'French Brooklyn' and it's a great description.

He's from Singapore though. If we went there, we'd likely find it overly sanitized and miss the 'grit' to be found in most other big cities. I doubt there's much in the way of graffiti or old industrial neighbourhoods in Singapore.

New York City

Here's a view of midtown and JC from Yonkers (taken in 2005). Again, this shows the vast scope of the New York metro area but it also highlights some of the lesser-appreciated features of the cityscape that make New York stand out, namely bridges, water, and hilly topography. It's no San Francisco or Istanbul, but New York has quite a bit of natural beauty. People just focus on midtown or downtown and don't bother to really get the bigger picture of things. Toronto kind of has the similar problem in which a lot of skyline shots are only from the Toronto Islands and don't get the entire Yonge Street spine. On a related note, I think one of the reasons why Chicago has such a popular skyline is that you can get almost all of it from any angle and it always looks good. I certainly wish New York had that quality but in the end I prefer NY's massive scale (Chicago is my #2 in North America, though!)
