Do you have to cross the canal from the cluster to get to Costa Rica?

Costa Rica is far away from the canal. The canal actually splits the country of Panama in approximately two halves. Most of Panama City is to the east of the canal [with four distinctive clusters: Balboa, Paitilla, Punta Pacifica, and Costa del Este], but there are some suburbs and coastal communities on the west side of the canal. Therefore, Panama City along with Istanbul are the only two cities in the world located in two continents.

I know that. I'm simply trying to find out which side of the canal the cluster is, but it's proving next to impossible. Saying it's on the east side doesn't answer the question. If someone could just tell me if one needs to cross the canal if one drives from the cluster to Canada I'll have my answer.

And the frustration continues! A simple Yes or No would have been soooooo much easier. And 'yo' isn't a word. It's like pulling teeth getting answers to the simplest questions with this latest generation.

This was almost as absurd a process as when I was at the airport and there was a major emergency. Despite having 100s of staff and an intercom system it never occurred to them to use either. When frustrated travelers complained that the airport wasn't informing passengers of the situation they said we had to go on Facebook! Facebook!

So I have to buy a computer, set up a Facebook account, sign in, then search for information when you're standing right in front of me? How do these people get jobs?

Panama City's core is to the east of the canal, so yes, you'd need to cross the canal to get to Costa Rica.

It wasn't a given that being on the east meant it was on the south American side. You'd need to know which way Panama bends near the canal. Thanks.

Probably not absolute but relative to the definition of "continent". There are two schools of thoughts, one where Central America is its own continent and one where the isthmus of Panama separates North and South America. The same can be said about the boundary between Europe and Asia. So ultimately, my statement is relative, I conclude.

The city core is to the East of the canal if you are facing the canal entrance from the south. So yes, you have to cross either of two bridges over the canal in order to get to Costa Rica.

It doesn't matter what direction you're facing though, east is east.
