The HK shots are enchanced or photoshopped.

I'll recommend people who think New York looks like Hong Kong and vice versa to get their eyes checked.

In fact, I see more differences between the two than similarities, which is a good thing. We need a more diverse world with so much globalization these days.

Ah, I thought you meant along the lines of crowds and density, when nygirl said Mong Kok not being all that overwhelming as a result of being from NY (or London etc).

Of course, if you meant NY and HK are actually similar and have a lot in common but with subtle differences, I think you'd be better off reversing that statement to having subtleties in common with vast differences.

Dear God, that last sentence sounds like Sir Humphrey! Been watching too much Yes Minister

I find New York and Hong Kong have vast differences and very few similarities. The way people live, work, and enjoy life in New York is remotely close to what Hong Kongers go through. Besides the skyscrapered landscape, that's pretty much it in terms of obvious commonalities. Even the use of skyscrapers differs drastically between the two cities. Hong Kongers are faced with skyscrapers for shopping, living, and working. New Yorkers enjoy a much more open environment. After all, the density drops dramatically across the Hudson and the East Rivers.

Not at all. I enjoyed it for what it was worth but did not think it was anything like New York. For instance the area between Midtown and Lower Manhattan has no counterpart in Hong Kong nor does New York have anything like the peak. For me what makes New York...so....New York is what is below 34th and above Chambers Street. The Village, Gramercy, Tribeca, Soho... nothing like it in the world and I thank god it's all ours.

I really missed the opportunity of going to NY whilst I was in the US. Should have done...it's one of the top 10 things on my places to visit now though!

I really hope people will enjoy travelling to another city and appreciate it for being different, rather than try to slap a 'this is what it may be at home' type of mentality. I appreciated New York for its uniqueness during my short stay there last year, and would not have explored as much as I had if I had lost that curiosity.

well i guess 'the world's best skyline' is all based on perception and where you grew up...everyone is going to have a different opinion and it will be impossible to come up with a consensus...but i guess thats why this topic was labelled a 'discussion' and not a 'rate which city has the best skyline'

personally, I have seen neither New York nor Hong Kong
although I would love to go see both cities...

I think San Francisco is has a pretty dense mid-rise skyline with a few tall skyscrapers.

Tehran #3? I know that's your opinion but alot of folks are going to question Tehran being infront of Chicago on a list that doesn't even consider Hong Kong. Post pics for the sake of the discussion.

What made you quote what I said when your response had nothing to do with it?
