For fear of turning this into NY thread love fest, lets be clear about a few things. Yes, there are some great new towers in NY. And yes, pound for pound, NY has as many or more shiny new object towers than any other city this side of Dubai. But lets also be clear --- THE NY SKYLINE HAS FLAWS.

Here is what I observe:

1. The symmetry is off,

2. Many of the new "spire towers" are clustered together to one side of the city,

3. There is a huge valley in between upper Manhattan and lower Manhattan -- in other words, a divided skyline - no flow, lacks symmetry,

4. Central Park now has a giant middle finger rising up over it,

5. The giant middle finger seems out of place -- in other words, it is out of scale in comparison to what is around it,

6. The setting is not the best,

7. The Hudson river water is murky and adds little appeal,

8. There are no mountains or hills in the background.

My personal # 1 skyline is Hong Kong because to me it ranks highest in the 3 categories that I rank most important -- setting, symmetry and density.

.

New York will always remain in my top 3

current top 3
1. Hong Kong (too massive, tall skyscrapers everywhere, simply wow)
2. New York (has own characteristic, unique, beautiful)
3. Shanghai (modern, high density, trio tallest)

Agree. It's one of the best skylines outside Asia imo but gets overlooked way too much.

I like how Toronto has these dense clusters scattered around metro. Some are a lot further along than others. The one in the foreground is North York which used to be its own city but now part of the City of Toronto. Do you have a similar one of Singapore taken from the north looking south to downtown? Or maybe even taken from Malaysia?
