Why? Who's better?

I think NYC is still the best overall, just not by as much as it used to be, it'll be more so in the next 5 years too.

I will say that Shanghai's trio is cooler than anything in NY or Chicago, but the rest of the city maybe a little less impressive other than the giant size.

There's an H&M store of three stories in the first three floors. I guess it's one of the biggest ones.

While i like the trio in Pudong, i certainly find the overall planing, arrangement and urban landscape of Pudong pretty much boring. A very outdated 70s style CBD planing.

I much prefer the Nanjing Road district. But i like the view towards Pudong from Suzhou river, with the development flanking the river banks. I wish NYC had done something like this with the canal in Queens/LIC.

EDIT: I think one problem that NYC has these days, despite adding a huge volume of new development is. We are used to it, we have seen it in movies, on posters etc for decades and decades. The new asian skyline are new, and our brain feels the vibe to it much more because it feels more attractive then what we already know for so long. Also, asian skyline have (SOME) certain alien looking shapes to their towers which simply adds to the previously said assumption. Furthermore, many features seen and labelled futuristic on towers in asian skylines have already been done in the US decades ago.

What I have also observed with Pudongs skyline is. The overall number of towers isnt that much and the except for the trio its not a really tall skyline either. But the towers are still free to be admired. While lets say lower Manhattan is so dense that one has to seek for the gems in it.

I love what Shanghai did to its river banks and overall appeal to its river front and i like the mix of colonial time structures mixed with the modern buildings in the background. Hopefully these colonial time buildings will be preserved.

Gosh youre picking the little details too seriously, of coz it cannot be perfect there, after all its Shanghai!-a Tokyo on steroids city.
Even those 300m towers look tiny here compared to the similar size Empire state building in NY that was sticking out for decades against its surrounding buildings.

300m buildings don't look that big in NY anymore either. The Shanghai tower is insane and I love the financial center (favorite building in the world) but I think it would help if Shanghai had more than four 300 meter buildings.
