Question...is that mountain range in hong kong protected or something? Because I just picture that being the equivalent to the hollywood hills but I see just a string of lights on them.

It isn't for 3 reasons.

3) Nina Tower isn't in it.
2) Cheung Kong isn't lit up like we know it can be.
1) BoC isn't lit up like we know it can be.

On the Hong Kong Island side, many residentials line along the hills. There may be an odd telecom tower or two, but lights are expected.

The Kowloon side is more rugged, and people don't usually live on the hills. But there are weather stations near the hilltops and some roads leading to them, which may be the lights you're talking about?

I think in the spirit of this thread we should keep out all the vs. nonsense and just let the pictures do the talking.
I would also like to ask the HK forumers: In that last amazing panorama of Hong Kong's Victoria harbor, is that Nina tower poking out behind the mountains right behind Central Plaza? If so, bravo!

New York City by the great RFC

No, that's One Island East. As I mentioned, Nina Tower isn't in the picture. It'd be to the far left of the picture.

Ah! Now I'd agree with that.

I don't like the whole dancing thing going on - but when it's fully lit up, I love it (or subtly lit up as in your picture).

The moving bands of light just look stupid on a building so great.

Thanks. I was wondering because I never see what's going on in the hills. And usually those are the people (well a hill/mountain side lot that has city views) that have EXTREMELY modern homes.

you can see 3 skylines of New York in that picture:

1. Lower Manhattan and Lower East Side (left)

2. Midtown Manhattan and Upper East Side (right)

3. Brooklyn (in the front, from where the picture was taken)
