Honestly, Burj Khalifa is too tall. It makes all the other buildings look like garden gnomes. There have to be lots of buildings in between the fill the huge height gap between Burj and surroundings. That's why I like Shnghai and NYC so much more. There no buildings that stand out too much.

Dubai still has lots of buildings under construction. Give it a few more years, the gaps will fill.

I think so too! Dubai really has alot of potential to become the number one skyline. Just give them time.

Hong Kong slightly outdoes Dubai for first, Dubai takes second, but New York may soon outdo them and regain its old crown with its new supertalls underway. It is to soon to tell. Shanghai is fourth. Fifth has a 4 way tie in my opinion: Shenzhen, Kuala Lumpur, Chicago, and Guangzhou. All are unbelievable.

quantity/density isn't always IT for me. though i think the best is a tie between HK and NY, i think smaller and simpler skylines like that of seattle, sydney and singapore are great. dubai may boast the tallest building, have lots of upcoming supertalls and has a great potential but i think its skyline is a total mess.

Shamelessly plugging my latest photo.

Please check out the high res. Hong Kong is so massive that even the Stonecutters bridge looks tiny.

Hong Kong is the best by far.
Dubai comes second, then New York and Shanghai.

San Francisco.

I never understood all the fuss about Shanghai. Sure, it has height, and the architecture is interesting, like Shanghai IFC or Jin Mao, but put all the towers together, and they make for what I've always felt like a rushed skyline with no real focal point that's trying too hard. It just doesn't feel like a natural skyline to me.
