![]() This building is located in Karlin, Prague 8. A quiet district near the Prague city center. It has almost 10,000 square meters area on four floors. It is a revitalization of industrial space and thus it seems to me it used to be a factory building before they remade it. As you can see they kept the walls everything else is new. By the way great job Prase1! You posted some great projects and building pictures. Here are some other projects in Karlin. ![]() Kotelna ![]() Palac (Palace) Karlin ![]() ![]() Crystal Karlin ![]() Libenske Doky This is development near the Vltava river and its former docks.

Timoth12, it also depends on the hight of every story. Current tallest in Prague is City Tower (office building) which is being renovated. It is 109 meters tall with 27 stories above and 3 underground.
![]() The current tallest all residential building, completed in 2004, is called Slunecni Namesti. It has 21 stories. Thanks to Fishfanger, we saw this building on his photo on the first page. I just thought I repost it here. Hope its ok with you Fishfanger. ![]()

Libense Doky looks like a big project. Do you know how tall that tower is going to be? On the picture it looks like 25-27 story building.

Libenske Doky
I have read some news articles and basically this project will start to be realized once anti-flood defenses of the area are completed. The plan was for that to happen at the beggining of 2005.
The project is currently being evaluated for its effect on the environment. Real Estate Karlin Group (REKG), the developer of the project, plans to beggining construction in 2006-2007. The projet spans area of 140 sq meters. Currently the area includes warehouses used for storage, which will be demolished to give a way for a administrative, residential and multipurpose buildings. The area will give work to 5000 people and include over 250 new appartments. Here is a write up for the project from the development company. LIBEŇ DOCKS The area surrounding Libeň Docks is also distinctive. Its main axis is Zenklova (formerly Primátorská) Street that used to be surrounded by a ghetto of which a synagogue from mid-1800s has been preserved. A number of small buildings are concentrated along the rivulet Rokytka. Although the area has retained a peripheral character, larger buildings began to be constructed here at the beginning of the twentieth century. During 1950-1970, a building on Na Hrázi Street (today mostly demolished) was the home of the famous novelist Bohumil Hrabal who vividly depicted the atmosphere of Old Libeň in his stories, such as Automat Svět, a novel inspired by a snack bar located in the Svět Palace. As to the area's new dominants, the most successfully rendered is Pleskot's Metrostav Palace in which the author imaginatively evokes the nature of Old Libeň. A part of the special atmosphere is the Libeň Harbor, a small complex of structures spread along the northeast tip of the former Libeňský Island, which – similarly as Rohanský Island in adjacent Karlín – has been connected with land after a shoulder of Vltava was filled at the end of 1920s. The inlets of the original river shoulder have been preserved, since the entire complex of waterways was enclosed, as have been some harbor structures built during 1930-1980. OUR CONTRIBUTION Real Estate Karlin Group has brought to the Czech Republic the concept of architecture workshops where leading architects with international reputation meet to seek and discuss solutions to important urban issues concerning Prague. The 'Libeňské Doky' ('Docks Prague 8') workshop is one of the best examples of a novel and interesting urban solution to an area that was virtually inaccessible to the public for a very long period. As part of this workshop, 12 architecture studios from the Czech Republic and abroad were approached with a request to revitalize the Libeň Docks area. SOUTH SECTOR The south sector will bring an entirely new urban concept to this formerly industrial district, mainly featuring detached administration buildings of which each is certain to become a sought-after place of business. WEST SECTOR The west sector profits from what the locality has to offer with regard to quality residential space in detached buildings interconnected with the vicinity. Like in other sectors, the architecture here relies on a dialogue with the surrounding nature and watercourses. EAST SECTOR The east sector will be dominated by an office building featuring an original wood-and-glass façade designed to interconnect the construction with the surrounding nature. This concept will be further enhanced by light passing through the glass parts of the façade and visually linking the inside space with, among others, the river Vltava, which flows in direct proximity of the edifice. ![]() I believe these images are close to what it will be like, as they have been selected through architectural competitions. Although final plans may change things, the tall building will most likely be there but I dont expect it to have more the 20 stories. The building will be something like an anchor for the project. As you will see from other projects I will post, on the other side of Vltava river you will have 3 (now there are 2) 19 story buildings in another large development called Holesovice Port. Holesovice Port
This is explanation from the project website:
The Holesovice port project is one of the most important in Europe. the scope of the project is impressive: long-term plans inlcude Pier 7 administrative and commercial complexes, along with the Blue Lagoon - a highly prestigious residential quarter on the Vltava river bank. The project also includes an area of greenery, a sports center and a retail coplex - all in the very heart of Prague. The project brings together a number of firms, all among the best in their respective sectors, in order to offer the best possible conditions. On the other side of the Vltava river is the area of the Liben Docs development. The left bottom side of the picture, surrounding the Vlatava river again, is area where another project is being developed. It is called River City and it includes Danube House (comleted) and Nile House (under construction) buildings I have posted earlier. On this last picture you can see the two 19 story buildings. The closer is called Tokovo and the further, whose pictures I have posted already is called Lighthouse. Both of them create a gate to Holesovice district as the main artery that crosses the bridge before them runs in between them. The third tall building to the left of them, which will probably be around 20 stories high, is part of the new project. Here are the two existing towers: Tokovo This is a 19 floor building constructed in the 1970s, which was recently renovated inside and out. I couldnt find any up to date images. Lighthouse some black and white artistic pictures ![]()

River City
This is another Vltava development that is already well under construction. Just like the other projects, it is redevelopoment of industrial area. It is closest to the city center, on the same side and just before the Liben Docs development that I have posted above. I have already posted the Danube House (completed) and Nile House (under construction), two buildings part of this development, but I will repost them again.

Great projects, out of all of the new EU post-communist countries, the Czechs without a doubt, are the most forward looking in terms of architecture, infrastructure, and urban renewal. Neighboring countries take notes...!!!

![]() As for the beaches. Yes, there is one and others are planned. There is a beach in Prague 5, relatively near the city center. Its created every summer, consists of 700 tons of white sand and includes mobile pool, rollerblading ring and climbing wall. It is 200 meters long and has a capacity of 800 people and includes bars and a restaurant. The entrance fee is 59 crowns (about 2 euro, a little over 2 dollars).

BBCentrum
BBCentrum is the largest complex of administrative buildings in the Czech Republic. I have already posted images of Building Alpha and renderings of buildings under construction, Gama and Beta, which is now completed. Others have posted images of other buildings.
In total BBCentrum has 8, mostly administrative buildings completed. The entire plan is to construct 15 buildings for a total of 300,000 sq meters of office space (over 100,000 sq meters is completed now). The area will have 6000 mostly under ground parking spaces and be a place of work for 15 to 20 thousand people and including garden restaurants, shops and services and two large parks. One third of the 15 billion crown (approximatelly 625 million dollars) has been invested so far. This is a rendering of small area of the project. All of the following buildings are either completed or under construction. The Bottom right building is building Alpha, the bottom left building is called Beta and its images follow. The building at the top is called Gama and the middle building is Nova Brumlovka, which will house restaurants, bar, shops and a fitness center with pool. Building Beta (Completed) I have posted renderings before, these images were taken after its grand opening few weeeks ago. ![]() From the building under construction I have already posted Building Gama, Building E which will include a conference center is bellow. Building E (Under Construction)
