I thought there was a line from the White House to the Capitol... I take it these aren't open to the public.

^ I am not sure if you are thinking this is the main metro system for Washington DC, but it isn't. The DC metro system is much bigger, this is seperate. This is meant as a people mover between the Congressional Office Buildings. There is no line between the White House and Capitol, those are two different branches of government. It is meant so theat people can move between the buildings without going through security, so I believe once you clear security once, you are free to use the system. Who knows how easy that is, though.

Its very nice it looks. Why cant the state of america give its people more trams, trains, subways, light-rails etc? I needs it so bad. Electrifying the most important tracks from west to east would also be great.

A TGV would travel in comfortable speed between west and east coast of USA. If they did it in 1900, they should be able to do it in 2000..

Well, this secret people moover looks very cool.

I think Congressmen use this system so that they can go back and forth between the capitol building and their offices when they're called to vote on a bill.

^ Exactly. Even though its a short distance, they must be going back and forth constantly, so this must help alot.

So is there anything like this anywhere else in the world? And how much would something like that cost?

Vancouver is expanding its rapid transit network to the airport. There will be 3 stations at the airport, they will connect the parking lots and maintence facilities with the main terminal. I belive service between airport stations will be free.
