Since it's not a city/country vs. thread it at least encourages people to think about what's across their borders and find the best that's to be find. Some interesting stuff in this thread actually.

Royal Palaces of Brazil

Paço Imperial (First Imperial Palace), inaugurated in 1743, to serve as official residence of viceroys. It served as Imperial Palace after the transfer of the Portuguese Court to Brazil in 1808.

Paço de São Cristóvão (Second Imperial Palace)[/I], built in the early 19th century to replace the former residence of the Royal Family. It houses today the National Museum of Brazil. The building has a gross area of 13,616.9 m² and 122 rooms.
