IMHO in Rome the best public parks are:
1) Villa Borghese, a public park famous for the fountains, the ancient statues, the view over city and its museums (the Borghese Gallery, The Etruscan Museum - the most important etruscan museum in the world - the National Modern Art Gallery). image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() 2) Villa pamphili image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() 3) Villa Sciarra ![]() ![]() image hosted on flickr ![]() image hosted on flickr

central park is pretty neat and i like its location, but the ultimate public park is stanley park. hands down.
with the sea wall, beaches, aquarium, trails, views and sheer size it is unrivaled.

Stanley Park is more a natural park rather than Central Park's somewhat artificial flavour. After all, Central Park is surrounded by the city on 4 sides whereas Stanley Park only is bordered on 1 side by the urban expanse.

Hey! Central Park is a big cliché. It's hors-concours, everyone remember it one when say about a "park".
I liked the parks you posted: Hangzhou, the roman Villas and the Golden Gate Park (impressive!) Here I show a tropical one, at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil: ![]() Jardim Botânico ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It's very close to the Tijuca Forest and the Corcovado Hill (where is the Christ the Redeemer statue), so many silvester animals come to the park. Parque Lage (where is also a trail to the Christ statue) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Oh man, I could see it coming. Several people are turning this topic into a 'Show your city's park' thread. But anyway, I certainly like most of them.
My personal Top 5: #1 - Central Park, NYC (How can there be any doubt at all?) #2 - Hyde Park, London (Been there. Lovely.) #3 - Bombay (That one really impressed me) #4 - Englischer Garten, München (I adore how soigné this park is) #5 - Mont Royal, Montréal |

Ulus Park in Istanbul. Its a minor one. There are better and bigger parks in Istanbul but in my opinion the Ulus Park has the best view of the Bosphorus.

I've been to both Guell and central in the last year, both amazing. Guell is very unique though and I loved it even though I almost passed out because of the heat.

I dont know why everyone is saying central park, for me a city park is somwhere you go to get away from the city and i never felt that in Central park. I dont deny its a beautiful piece of public space but its way too small for manhattans population. My favourite parks are former colonial city botanical gardens eg Sydney, Singapore, lots of parks in london (richmond and Hyde the best).... I guess its the countryside i look for in parks not formal gardens or overlloked lawns.

You don't need me to complement parks that everybody in here already knows, like Central Park, among others.
In Houston, i like both Discovery Green and Hermann Park. Maybe post some pics, later. I cant believe Millennium Park in Chicago hasn't been mentioned, though. |

Millennium park is nice, but theres nothing particularly special about the park. Its not very park-ish either, with too much concrete and roads running through it. Nice though

The nicest park I´ve ever visited is definitely Greenwich Park in London.
