jesus...thats alot of hirises! Great thread.

People laughed when I said Las Vegas will have a kick ass skyline in the near future. Im kind of excited to see that City By the Bay hotel, as well as the London themed one. Why the hell should I visit Europe anymore....when I can visit Paris, London, Venice, Rome, Monte Carlo...etc in my own backyard?

When are the projects that are already under construction going to be finished? How tall are they going to be? Does anyone know where in Las Vegas all of these projects will go? Are they going to be right in and around The Strip or what?

Great, I read an article a long time ago about how Las Vegas is dropping out of the Gambling business, and switches to the Entertainment that sucks the money out of the wallets of a whole family kids included, and not only the parents and retired people. As well as it is becoming a place to live, so they build condos... Well I read it months ago :P
Anyway, I like a lot of these towers, the Ivana looks good.
btw, maybe Las Vegas got pissed off that Dubai gets all that attention and decided to build highrises too

It's about time someone creates a thread for Las Vegas. Great work, emteeachque !

City by the Bay was proposed for the New Frontier Hotel site, but the proposal is officially dead. The developer is drawing up a new proposal, no detail has been released yet about the new proposal. The new plan will have an upscale and modern feel and not be a copy of some city's landmarks.

The London Theme Hotel proposal was approved, but it was never realized and now it's offically dead. Themed hotels are not the trend in Las vegas right now. The newest hotels in Las Vegas like the Wynn Hotel, Palazzo Hotel, THEhotel at Mandalay Bay, and The Palms are all about sophistication and cool not kitsch.

Playboy Las Vegas is officially dead too. The lot between Monte Carlo and Bellagio will be developed into "Project City Center" and "The Cosmopolitan"

.
Left: Project City Center. Right: Cosmopolitan

^wow, i had no idea London and City by the Bay were dead.. but its very understandable now that people woke up to the reality of these themed casinos.

btw to someone who asked earlier, No, much of these projects are going to be outside of the strip (finally). Its really good to see downtown also getting some attention again after 20 or 30+ years of no attention.

Why isn't there a Asian themed casino/hotel?

In any event, Vegas is the USA's version of Dubai. Both are in the desert and both are building things left and right. But some of the Vegas stuff is huge. Quail Village? Jesus. Beautiful nonetheless.

I never thought about the connection between Las Vegas and Dubai. They are alike...
I'll be shock if Las Vegas be America's 3rd best skyline in decades.

Glad to see Las Vegas is going upwards these days. What I'm especially glad to see though is the rethinking of these 'themed' hotels where a casino is built to mimic a great city's best architectural features. I found that just plain tacky and thought it deprived Las Vegas of it's own identity in a way. Plus it was kinda shameless and cheesy (okay, being redundant I know. Just really disliked that idea though)

Anyway, I hope every one of these proposals goes through (save the ones I have already explained I dislike) and gets built.
