Question

Hi people!

I have a question about the SkyEurope Hub in Prague:
How many aircrafts are in Prague Airport? Maybe 4?

And anybody knows the other hubs (Vienna & Bratislava)?

Thxs & regards from Spain.

Why? there aren't any threads about other major czech airports. Vodochody is not that important.. but if someone lives in Vodochody and can do some pictures from the construction, why not..

So what about some general Aviation thread for all airports?

BTW, there is a thread about Brno airport: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=273889

By the way, could anybody explain to me, why Prague needs a second airport when it is not growing as a tourist destination and when even the market of low-cost flights and cheap tickets is collapsing (yeah, even Ryanair is struggling to make money at the moment)? And how will the passengers be transported from Vodochody to the centre of Prague? If they don't find some alternative, I suppose that this airport will get 10000 people extra per day driving down the V Holešovičkách street. Or am I mistaken?

The airport is close to D8 motorway and 10k people a day is nothing.

Prague perhaps does not need another airport, but Aero owners probably think they do. The airport is already there (part of the Aero plant), it has a good connection to the city via D8, so the only thing necessary is to build a decent terminal and voila a convenient low cost airport is ready.

Imho the Aero owners would have been stupid if they did not take advantage from the airport's location and its relative readiness for civilian use.

And we ordinary travellers may hope to enjoy slightly lower airport fees as a result of increased competition between Ruzyně and Vodochody.

I think that Penta did some number crunching before launching this project.

I agree, it could only increase competition. Ruzyně is for now basically regional monopoly. I wish there was similar competition between VIE and BTS.

Naopak většina obyvatel Prahy a Středočeského kraje podporuje plánovaný rozvoj letiště, souhlasilo s ním 72 procent z nich.

Zájem o dění kolem letiště má zhruba stejný počet obyvatel obcí v okolí letiště jako lidí v Praze a středních Čechách. Přibližně čtyři pětiny lidí z okolních obcí neví, kolik letadel bude do Vodochod létat. Sedm z deseti ani nezná konkrétní údaj o plánovaném počtu přepravených cestujících za rok.

S rozšířením letiště Vodochody to vypadá bledě. V referendu pořádáném společně s volbami se všechny obce vyjádřily proti a projekt chtějí zastavit i (skoro vládní)politické strany VV a ODS.

VV a ODS chtějí zarazit projekt letiště Vodochody

To klasické - Ruzyni - už má. A lowcostové aerolinky potřebují nějaký svůj areál s nízkými letištními poplatky.
