This is for me the most beautiful building in the world. And, I'm a member of the Antwerp Cathedral Choir :

Antwerpen, Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal:
(Antwerp, Cathedral of Our Lady)

Unless I'm an organist, I never played on this one.

Neither on this one :-p

Very active public in our concert

View from the Belfry Tower, at the highest balcony. And no, I'm not one of these 4 guys, that are other choir members.

Keyboard of the carillon in the Belfry Tower.

Our choir I'm at the right side, before the column, the one that looks to the left side. And totally right, our director

The height of the towers:
Belfry Tower (North Western Tower): 123m
South Western Tower: 65m
Onion Tower (above the altar): 48m

But this cathedral was planned to be much larger. The main corridor (sorry don't know the right name in English) had to be the euh, let's say the short line of the cross. There were also 7 towers planned.
As you see the South Western Tower has not been completed, this one had to be taller than the Belfry Tower.
The problem of course, was...

Antwerp cathedral I think is also very nice shame about the second tower, i think it would have looked better with 2 full towers

The story goes that the (completed) north spire was built with donations from the poor, the (unfinished) south tower was paid by the rich merchants of the city.

I like antwerp, I had not seen that before.

Ulm is a gorgeous cathedral, and very cool/scary to walk to the top of. the spire walls are very thin and wispy towards the top!

one of my favorites (one of the ten largest in the world, in washington, dc of all places) is a cool fusion of modern simplicity and classic styles. (not classical in the greek sense, just classic church design)

Sevilla Cathedral is the biggest in the world!

Barcelona Cathedral is very beautiful, too!!

Spain has got more than 80 cathedrals.
Can you beat that?

Are you sure ? What about St Paul in London and St John the Divine in NY ?
(I know St Peter in Roma and Notre de Dame de la Paix in Yamoussoukro are basilicas)
Please could you give some figures ?

yes, the sevilla cathedral is the biggest cathedral (not basilica) ever build, but doesn't mean that is the best one.
For me, the best ones are Notre Dame de Chartres, Burgos, Notre Dame de Reims, Leon, Toledo, Milano and Ulm
