Raffles Place, Singapore!

Right in the centre of the tallest cluster of skyscrapers by Singapore River.

^Circa 1990

^In the 'canyon' within the tallest cluster of skyscrapers, that's Raffles Place.

I think not many people know there's actually a square in the middle of the cluster fronting the Singapore River.....

OMG! Independence Square looks so grand! I love it! Whenever I see live pictures of the square on BBC World's The world Live, I cant wait to see how Independence looks like. Its my fav square so far.

Redstone: Great pic of Raffles Place. Approximately how old is the satelite photo? It looks kinda old. The Esplanade wasnt even completed.

One of my favourite North American squares is Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. It is very leafy with fountains and sculptures in the midst of a residential neighborhood with the sounds of restaurant patrons clamoring on the side. It is right in the heart of downtown (Center City) and only a few blocks from City Hall and the main thoroughfare.

Rittenhouse Square is located among the trees below :

Philadelphia has a few other squares in the downtown area, which have a similar leafy theme.

I've always loved Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti) as well . It's my favourite square of the world.

What about St. Louis Square in New Orleans? That place is beautiful!

Union Square in San Francisco is also spectacular. Its a huge shopping hub right in the middle of downtown.

Times Square is definitely the best. It's vibrant, glitzy, and loud.
