According to Project for Public Spaces (PPS) Krakow's main square is the best in the world!

http://www.pps.org/info/newsletter/d...tional_squares

1. Rynek Glowny, Krakow, Poland
2. Plaza Hidalgo, Mexico City, Mexico
3. Piazza Navona, Rome, Italy
4. Piazza del Campo, Sienna, Italy
5. Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Covent Gardens, and Leicester Square, London, United Kingdom

There are so many stunning European town squares, with a lot of density and architectural details. Truly perfect gathering places in an intimate urban setting.

My favourite city square is Sultanahmet square. It is amazing with Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace and Obelisk. It was built on ancient hippodrome which is located on a peninsula between Bosphorus (The strait which seperates Europe and Asia), Marmara sea and Golden Horn (The bay which seperates European side into two part). This square is realy amazing with its history and its natural beauty! It is the heart of Istanbul.

Beijing's Tiananmen Square is quite ugly actually. It is huge, and the buildings surrounding it on two sides are monumental yet out of scale. The square doesn't have the intimacy like the European squares.

The Independance Square in Kyiv looks really impressive.

The Peace Gardens & MIllenium Square, Sheffield:

Sheaf Square, Sheffield (Under construction)

Barkers Pool, Sheffield

There's loads of other squares aswell, and a few new one's under construction.

Thanks to all the people who's photo's i've borrowed.
