SP!RE, this isn't exactly new news but oh well...

Here are some stats about Cityplace:
There will be 20 towers when it is completed and they will all add to Toronto's skyline west of the Rogers Centre. The tallest tower will be 69 st. 714 ft. but it could end up taller/shorter depending on the market in the future. Half of the 45 acres will be parkland.

Here are the towers:
Apex I, 28s 273 ft.
Apex II, 36s 356 ft.
Matrix I. 32s 310 ft.
Matrix II, 28s 274 ft.
Optima, 34s 338 ft.
Harbour View Estates I, 41s
HVE II, 49s
HVE III South, 36s
HVE III North 26s
The Gallery, 8s
WestOne, 55s
N1, 42s

And more towers coming in the future.

Sure there are alot of towers, but im not a fan of the result. Sure it expands the skyline, but it looks bland and rushed, rather than a gradual development that has true character. Prove me wrong tho!

Awesome. How many people does that add to downtown?

I like what it does to the skyline!
I hate, like most others, the streetlevel. 1 storey streetwalls, wtf?

those future renderings do look impressive. These buildings dont have a lot of individual character, but as a group they'l b amazing. Are they all U/C?

Whats the deal with the golf driving range I saw downtown, close to the skydome, when I was there last summer? I thought that was so odd. And there's that substation right downtown near the Rogers Center.

But these new towers look to dramatically alter the skyline. When I was there I saw soooo many condo towers under construction, there really is a huge boom in Toronto right now. What a beautiful city, I can't wait to return someday.

No, 5 buildings are already completed as early as 2002. HVE I and II are topped out and are pretty much complete except for the interior. Phases 3 and 4 are U/c. WestOne, N1/N2, and Gallery are Excavated and have started construction I think. There will be another 19 storey tower called "Neo" which will be in sales soon. The other towers will follow, including the tallest called Signature Tower which will be in the 700 ft.+ range.

I don't think the driving range was even open anymore last year but it's gone now (Thank god, it was such a waste of urban space). They've already started bulldozing the land for future developments.

The Gallery (the smallest Cityplace building, really cool) is done, except for the inside. Occupation is in August I believe, although even earlier would make sense.

And I agree with the person above about the streetwalls being pathetic. One storey podiums... how unfortunate.

When all the towers are complete, there will be a total of 7500 residential units in Cityplace. I'm guessing that the average number of people in each unit is 1.5 so 7500 * 1.5= 11250

...and I think they should have stairs going down a level at the podiums, with some clubs or something underneath. Hillbrow, Johannesburg was rocking in the 1970's... a huge downtown residential community of towers, Hillbrow had record stores, cafes and clubs, right at the bottom of apartment buildings... it was a 24-hour neighbourhood... so succesful. I wish CityPlace could be like that... clubs are what it needs
