why did all the original renderings make those towers look so less boxy?

They probably weren't based on any actual designs, rather just the height and locations of the buildings. If you're talking about the marketing renderings used to sell the buildings, I think they're pretty spot-on as far as renderings go.

As Are Be says.. it looks like a *****. That's an old render, probably will be redesigned.

BTW: ^Look at those proposed for Toronto.. hahah 174.. pretty sick. It's all the OMB and NIMBIES that are causing the building to trickle to 54 U/C. Unfortunate.

Well there's nothing particularly wrong with a phallic skyscraper if you are in to that type of thing. Personally, I think the last design is okay... but it could be more innovative.

Here's the original rendering, a true *****:

The current version:

My estimate is that this baby will start rising in 7 to 8 years, that includes the time for the other others before it to sell and build, and the time to market and sell this.

What is this sharpie white flame thing at the top of HVE? It will be the backdrop for the warm by night lighting thing for sure.. but it looks so awkward.

Couldn't they have finished off with a graceful pyramid spire or.. just a flat top?

It's one of the most 'original' and unique tops on a skyscraper I have ever seen, actually:

Quite nice...

Was walking by Bathurst and Front area and noticed an extra crane there. I think they may have just put in the crane for N1/N2. Did'nt have time to check it out, so I'll run by there another time to make sure.
