I find the idea of one company building a town or city truly scary. People have been writing sci-fi horror about such ideas for years and there are solid reasons for it being considered horror.

Screw science-fiction horror stories, building a new city from scratch is completely unheard of in this modern age!

I can simply imagine how it's going to look like with absolutely no old buildings in sight, only shiny modern and futuristic architecture everywhere you turn.
Infrastructure such as roads, subways and railways would be carefully planned and integrated into the city for maximum effeciency, instead of trying to weave it into an already existing and old infrastructure and resulting in a chaotic mess like with so many other cities. It will be interesting to see indeed!

However, I'm rather curious as to how a company like Emaar expects to make profits from this kind of investment.
I don't doubt that they will (otherwise they wouldn't be doing this), I'm just curious as to how.

^ There are areas in Lahore where a residential plot of size 500 Sq. Yards costs around 250K Dollars... and these plots aren't on main roads or near cool commercial projects. So I'm sure Emaar's ROI will be relatively high.

Emaar is in a partnership with Bahria Town, one of Pakistan's largest real estate developer. The new company formed is called Bahria Emirates, I believe.

Bahria Town is Massive ! and Bahria Group has a lot of money.. and I mean A LOT.. Bahria Group recently launched projects worth $11bn, and they have A LOT more in the pipeline.

Btw, Bahria Town is Asia's largest housing scheme.
